Off to IEA Zones!
The middle team won last weekend at Regionals held at Stoneleigh-Burnham. That means that they will be going on to the zones at Mount Holyoke in a few weeks. The kids rode great and Susan, as always had them well prepared. We could not be prouder of both of our teams and all of the kids on them. Emily Fedor also won her class so will be on to the zones as an individual rider as well. Congratulations to all!
Girl Power!
Erin and Faye must have called each other this morning because they certainly coordinated their outfits. A couple of fashionistas, I say.
Getting Closer……….
The addition is getting closer and closer to being done. Debbie Gilbert has singlehandedly painted every surface indoors and out and the place looks beautiful (thank you , Deb). The porch is now under construction (we need a hot tub out there!) and then the kitchen counter, cabinets and sink have to go in. There is a pass through into the lounge, a separate entrance from the driveway, and it looks so great. We could not be happier with how it turned out!
Best IHSA Show EVER
Today we had our Fall Amherst College/Biscuit Hill Farm IHSA horse show at the farm. Everything went really well, thanks to all of our volunteers and the entire Amherst IHSA team, particularly our hard working captain, Aubrie Campbell! Aubrie has worked very hard this term with a great attitude and desire to learn. Thanks also to Fran Cross and the Westfield State University team for bring us 3 horses and to our boarders, Sue, Adrienne, Jayne and Margaret for letting us use their awesome horses as well. Our horses were unbelievable, as usual. Our judge, Fred Hunt did a great job picking the best riders without working the horses too hard. No re-rides at all! And we were done at 1:30. Talk about efficient! When I sit and watch those school horses of ours do some of these shows, I feel so lucky. We were also lucky with the weather this weekend. This was the last show of this season for us at home and I truly think it was our best.
WNE-PHA Finalists!
We had a great weekend at the 2011 WNE-PHA finals. Our mini medal riders, Sophie Margola and Sarah Ward were the Champion and Reserve Champion in the Mini Medal Finals class respectively. Sarah rode Victor, a Biscuit Hill school horse and Sophie rode Kalife, owned by Margaret Williams of Shelburne. After the jumping portion of the finals class, it was clear that Sarah was called back in first place but Victor’s challenging flatwork made it difficult for her to keep that first place spot, especially when Sophie and Kalife looked so great in the flat phase. in the end, Sophie was the winner and Sarah was the reserve champion. I was so proud of both of them and all of their hard work in lessons all year. Margaret Williams also rode Kalife to the reserve champion in the Adult Equitation Finals class, also a really good win. Margaret has been really busy in school and had found it hard to ride regularly but you would not have known it by watching her ride in the class. GO TEAM. Also at the show was Lily Boyd riding Alvin. Lily looked great that day but had a few problems in a really big class that left her out of the ribbons. As always she was cheerful and a joy to have around and we were glad she was there with us.
Go Bailey and Tenczar!
Bailey and Tenczar showed in a very fun class at the Putnam Boston Classic last week. It was a $10,000 Hunter Derby, held out on the Myopia hunt course. It was a first time for both of them jumping all the natural jumps and Tenczar was really good. They were 7th out of a decent size class. It was great to watch. Here is a clip of their course. I was proud of both of them!

It’s All Over
Camp 2011 is over! And, as you can see, we took these two happy children who were dropped off in the morning, happy, cheerful and clean and turned them into………………….

Sunday Lessons
Here’s a little clip of Meghan riding Panda today in her lesson. She has come such a long way, that Meghan. I am pretty proud of how well she rode today.
What a beautiful day it was. The horses and riders were especially great today. Victoria and Jack jumped their hearts out, Val was a rock star, and their riders rode great. It made my day!
Kitty Love?
Here are coco and her brother, Tiger hugging. Litter mates are so cute together, even as they get older.
COCO
Here is little coco, the smallest kitty we have ever had at the farm. She and her brother have been with us for about a year and they have been fun additions to our barn family. Coco followed MJ all over the day this photo was taken. She is a cutie.
